Greetings From Bill Neely
To the Churches at Swords and Fork Chapel:
Greetings from the Neely’s! I am excited about getting to know each of you, and being your friend and pastor. Kay and I find ourselves somewhere in time between over the hill and under the daisies, and until recently thought we had retired (again). The Father had other ideas. He is not finished with us yet- any of us. We still have things to learn, challenges to face, and roads to travel.
The Father has given us all certain talents, skills, gifts, and tasks. I cannot tell any of you what these are for you. The Spirit discloses these things, and together we will accomplish much with what we have. My memory is not like it used to be, so please be patient as we learn your names.
I am not offended by anything you call me, but I go by “Bill”. Mister Bill was my Dad, and I do not require such honorifics as Reverend or Doctor. Our over three decades together is a second marriage for each of us. We have 5 grown children between us (one deceased), nine grandchildren that we know about, and no pets. We moved to Greene County in 2019 after 30 years in Milledgeville as a Financial advisor with Edward Jones, A.G. Edwards, and Wells Fargo Advisors. My last appointment was 2013-2020 at Shurlington UMC in Macon.
I was ordained an Elder in the South Georgia Conference about 40 years ago after graduating from Asbury Theological Seminary. Kay is a retired schoolteacher and daughter of a South Georgia Methodist minister. We are not coming to your church to “shake things up”, but to walk with you for a time on the way to “Father’s House”. Please call us when you want to talk, or need a visit, and please let us know if anyone is sick or in trouble. Help us learn your customs and traditions, how you are related, and how we can best serve you.
